Melody/LyricsThis tagh is performed during the ceremony of the “Blessing of Water" (“Jurorhnek”) after the Divine Liturgy on Christmas Day to celebrate both the birth and the baptism of Jesus Christ. Tagh is a genre of music that can be both secular and spiritual. Gandzaran (Canticles) deals with the latter. The differences between spiritual taghs and hymns or canticles are in the non-canonical nature of taghs and their free style in regards to both melody and lyrics. They are usually short in format and are dedicated to saints and religious feasts.
