This play-song is like a children’s tale, in which one object is traded for another repeatedly. Songs like this not only bring joy and energize children but also contribute to their mental development. In this song pilaf is given to the hen and the hen gives an egg in return. The egg is given to the blacksmith and the blacksmith gives a knife in return. The knife is given to the shepherd and the shepherd gives a lamb in return. Finally, the lamb is given to God (meaning sacrificed) in the hope that God will grant him a brother.
