This hegeology is performed during the Divine Liturgy on Sundays, as well as celebrations dedicated to Archangels. The Divine Liturgy is the primary worship service of the Church. The central mystery of the church - the offering of the bread and the wine as the offering of ourselves and our world to God in Christ, and the Holy Communion or the Eucharist, take place during the Divine Liturgy. As words, liturgy means “common action” and Eucharist means “thanksgiving.” The faithful - the baptized and confirmed - gather in one place to praise the God in common prayer and receive the gift of Holy Communion with God the Father through Christ and the Spirit.
