Melody/LyricsWool is combed using hackles while in a seated position. You take a handful of wool fiber, holding it on both sides; load the hackle lashing the fiber onto it by pressing the wool down onto the sharp needles of the hackle towards the base of the tines. You continue layering along and up the hackle in this manner until the fibers are opened up and aligned and all the noils and short fibers are removed. The countrywomen used to sing this song while combing wool to make the job less tedious, and allow the time to pass by unnoticed. Collected and transcribed by Vartan Samvelyan.
