Melody/LyricsThis is a tagh on Resurrection of Jesus and the Holy Cross. Its author is unknown. The Tagh (Ode) is a genre of Armenian monodic songwriting. Its origin is ancient but its content and melodic line can be similar to modern compositions. There are two types of taghs - religious and secular. St.Narekatsi's taghs are the unsurpassed monuments of this musical style. Gandzaran (Canticles) contains a vast collection of spiritual taghs. The differences between spiritual taghs and hymns or canticles are in the non-canonical nature of taghs and their free style in regards with both melody and lyrics. They are usually short in format and are dedicated to saints and religious feasts.
