This is a bedtime song for a baby. The songs of Aken are like echoes of medieval Armenian songs. They are consistent with Armenian rhythmic modes of the past. Many Armenian songs have been preserved in medieval handwritten scripts, but their melodies, unfortunately, are lost. Only songs of Aken grant us an opportunity to form an idea of what they would have sounded like.
